A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, in Pegg Paxson & Springer Funeral Home for Jack C. Mortensen Sr., who died Dec. 4 at age 83. Mr. Mortensen was born March 31, 1923, in Portland, where he lived all his life. During World War II, he served in the Navy in the South Pacific and received a Purple Heart. He was a maintenance supervisor for Esco for 43 years. In 1950, he married Betty Hicketier. Survivors include his wife; sons, Tom, Jack Jr., Jerry and Eric; sister, Kathleen Theilfold; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Remembrances to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
