Helen Grossen, rites Wednesday
Helen M. Grossen, 90, Hillsboro, died March 26, 1998, at her home of heart failure.
Funeral services 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 1505 NW Springville Road, Portland, with Brett Pastor officiating. Entombment in Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery.
Mrs. Grossen was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Orleans, Neb., daughter of Chris and Helen Shannon VonHellen. She moved with her family to Rainier in 1937 and had lived in the Hillsboro area since 1940.
On Feb. 14, 1941, she married Wilfred Peter Grossen. He died in 1969.
Mrs. Grossen worked as an assistant cook at the Masonic and Eastern Star Homes in Forest Grove in the 1970s.
She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church; especially enjoyed flowers. She also enjoyed traveling and had visited numerous foreign countries.
Survivors include a son, Pete Grossen, Cornelius; a daughter, Lois Hylin, Kirkland, Wash.; five grandchildren; Kirk Hylin, Arlington, Texas, Zach Grossen and Melanie Grossen, both of Cornelius; Elton VonHellen, Portland, and Richard VonHellen, Hillsboro; and a sister, Maxine Carlson, Portland.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Stewart VonHellen and Elton VonHellen.
