Obituary

Albert C. Grossen, ex-garage owner Albert C. "Al" Grossen, 74, Hillsboro, died June 1, 1993, at his home of arteriosclerotic heart disease. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at Bronslee-Bass Funeral Home with Pastor Don Crum of Liberty Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery. Mr. Grossen was born Dec. 2, 1918, in Hillsboro, the second of six sons of Peter Fred and Marie Seigrist Grossen. He had lived in the Helvetia area all his life. He served in the 1st Armored Division of the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy during World War II and reached the rank of technical sergeant. In 1947, he married Deloris Leppin. Grossen operated Al's Service Garage until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had done some farming. Survivors include two daughters, Glenda of Portland and Gaylene, Gerry son, both of Hillsboro; his former wife and friend, Deloris Grossen, Portland; two grandsons, Brady and Barry Grossen, both of Hillsboro; three brothers, Elmer Grossen, all of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers. The family suggests memorials to St. Vincent Hospital Medical Foundation. Bronslee-Bass Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
