Obituary

Caroline Babcock, long-time resident Caroline Viola Babcock, 94, died May 4, 1994, at Oak Villa Care Center. A private memorial service will be held in Bethany Presbyterian Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. was born July 15, 1899, in Reynolds, N.D., daughter of Adam and Leora Leibrock. She graduated from Fairbury, Neb., High School. On March 9, 1921, she married John Babcock in Reynolds, 50th wedding anniversary in 1971 shortly before Mr. Babcock's death. They moved to White Salmon, Wash., in 1925 and to Milwaukie a year later. In 1943, they purchased a farm in West Union. Mrs. Babcock lived there until moving to Cornelius Estates in Hillsboro in 1989. Mrs. Babcock was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, West Union Star Men's Club, West Union and Five Oaks Garden Club, and Bethany Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence 'Larry' and Jean Babcock Hillsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Robert Kranz in-law, Cornelius; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Leibrock, Anchorage, Alaska; and a brother, Alaska. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Johnson, in 1968, and a sister, Marie Smith. The family suggests memorial contributions to Bethany Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.
