Marion Lench
A memorial service will be held Nov. 4 for Marion Lench of Eugene, who died Oct. 22 of leukemia. She was 80. Lench was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Berlin, N.D., to Glenn and Clara Fleener. She married Edward Lench on Sept. 12, 1950, in Seattle. He died May 28, 1995.
She graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland and worked in Portland shipyards during World War II. A homemaker, Lench had lived with her husband's military service, including in Oxford, England, in Massachusetts and in Alexandria, Va. The couple retired in 1970 and moved to Eugene.
Lench was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bridge. She belonged to Eugene First Baptist Church and the Eugene Officers' Wives Club.
Her family will remember her as a kind, generous person and a devoted mother and wife.
Survivors include five sons, Rob of Eugene, Dan of Corvallis, John of Gervais, Larry of Milwaukie, and Rick of San Diego; a daughter, Eugenia; a brother, Fred Fleener of Dickinson, N.D.; two sisters, Ruth Gordon of Alsea and Maisie Carlson of Washington; and eight grandchildren.
The Nov. 4 service will be held at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Eugene. Private family burial. England's Eugene Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
