Edward Lynch
Private family services are planned for Edward L. Lynch of Eugene, who died May 28 of Parkinson's disease. He was 73.
Great Falls, born Dec. 18, 1921, in Great Falls, Mont., to parents Frank and Mary L. Lynch. He married Mary L. Fleener on Sept. 12, 1950, in Seattle. He had lived in Washington, D.C., and Alexandria, Va., before coming to Eugene in 1970.
He completed elementary and high school in Great Falls. After graduating from the University of Washington, he earned a master's degree at Michigan State University and did post-graduate work at Georgetown University.
Lynch joined the U.S. Air Force and flew DC-3s over the route known as 'The Hump' from India to China during World War II. He retired from the Air Force in 1970 with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He belonged to the Eugene Country Club, the B.P.O.E. No. 357 of Eugene and the golf retired officers' club.
He enjoyed golf and his wife, survivors include five sons, Dan of Corvallis, John of Gervais, Larry of Milford, Mass., Rick of San Diego and Rob of Coburg; a daughter, Marilyn France of Eugene; three sisters, Helen Ellen of Great Falls and Schneider Hoyt of Whittier, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Association. Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
