Hazel Smith, 75 ROCK CREEK—Hazel Smith, 75, Rock Creek, died Jan. 10, 1989, at her home. Memorial services Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 15505 NW Springville Road, Portland. Mrs. Smith was born April 19, 1913, in Oakland, Calif. She married Earl Smith March 12, 1939, in Ross, Calif. In her youth she was involved in Christian endeavor and church choir member of her church throughout her life. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deaconess and elder and was a member of the Women's Association Board and Naomi Circle. She also had served as secretary and president of Shipmates. Survivors include her husband, Earl Smith, Rock Creek; two children, Karen Smith, Portland; a brother, James Bromley, Cloverdale, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Irma (Frank) Simpson, Larkspur, Calif.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Stocker. The family suggests memorial contributions to Straight Ahead, a home for abandoned teen-aged girls, in care of Bethany Presbyterian Church, 15505 NW Springville Road, Portland. Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary of Portland is in charge of arrangements.
