Eugene Tate, 76, services Saturday
PORTLAND—Eugene Tate, 76, Portland, died April 3, 2000, in Portland.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bethany Bible Church, 18245 NW Germantown Road, with Pastor Greg Allen officiating.
Interment will be in Bethany Pioneer Cemetery in Portland.
Visitation will be at Donsell, Sewell and Mathews Mortuary, 171 NE Third Ave., Hillsboro, Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Mr. Tate was born May 23, 1923, in Kings Mountain, N.C., a son of Brooks Roosevelt and Lela Bridges Tate. He served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
In 1945, he married Margaret Pauly at George Field, Ill. They moved to Portland later that year. They observed their 54th wedding anniversary last year.
Mr. Tate worked as a finish carpenter most of his life and retired in 1988. He was known for his masterful craftsmanship and artistic design in his work with wood.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Tate; daughter-in-law, Paula and Oran Abbott, Portland; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert E. Tate and Mark and Judy Tate, all of Portland; grandchildren, Eva Jean Tate of Idaho and Preston Abbott and Tymon and Holly Abbott, all of Portland; and two brothers, Oliver Tate and Fred Tate, both of Kings Mountain, N.C. Donsell, Sewell and Mathews Mortuary of Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
