Benjamin W. "Ben" Faber, 90, a former businessman and long-time Tulalip civic leader, died April 3, 1989.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 15505 NW Springville Road, with the Rev. George W. Day officiating.
Mr. Faber was born March 19, 1899 in Lynden, Wash., a son of Ulbe and Barbara Stavinga Faber. On June 10, 1927, he married Alice Loers in Oak Harbor, Wash. Their 62nd wedding anniversary was nearing.
He was raised and educated in Oak Harbor and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Washington State College.
He worked for Westinghouse in Pennsylvania for about five years before moving to Hillsboro, where he had lived for 55 years. Mr. Faber worked for PGE for some time and then started his own business—Ben Faber Electric—in 1954. He owned and operated the business until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Faber was a past grand master of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge, a past president of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club member. He had served as scoutmaster of Troop 226.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Faber, Hillsboro; two sons, Gordon Faber, a member of the Hillsboro City Council, and Wayne Faber, Lacey, Wash.; two daughters, Gretchen Beucler, Hillsboro; Lacey Washington, Temple, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Peter Faber, Mt. Vernon, Wash., and Ivan Faber, Linden, Wash.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Bethany Presbyterian Church.
