Obituary

Alice Faber, 96, mother of mayor Alice Loers Faber, 96, a long- time resident of Hillsboro, died Oct. 12, 1998. Memorial services will be Sa- turday at 10 a.m. at OrenCo Presbyterian Rainey Church, with Pastor Mrs. Mark Rainey officiating. Mrs. Faber was born in Oak Harbor, Wash., and had lived in Hillsboro since 1934. She married Ben Faber, who owned Faber Electric. Survivors include two sons, B. Wayne Faber; Lacey; Wash.; and Gordon Faber, mayor of Hillsboro; two daughters, Gretchen Beucher, Hillsboro, and Barbara Hillyard, Tempe, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. The family suggests memor- ial contributions to OrenCo Presbyterian Church Building Fund. Brunleewe-Bass Funeral Home is in charge of arrange- ments and will announce complete obituary. Special Instructions: The family suggests memorial contributions to OrenCo Presbyterian Church Building Fund. Mrs. Faber worked as a substitute teacher during World War II and then taught at B.W. Barnes Elementary School until 1952. For many years she was part of a trio that sang at area funerals. Mrs. Faber was a long-time member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and had served as president of the Portland Presbytery for a time. She was the first woman elder of the church.
