 Nellie “Petronelia (Vandehey)” VanDyke was born June 3, 1902, to Antone and Maria (Smith) Vandehey North Plains, Oregon.  The family moved to Roy, Oregon where Nellie grew up. 

Nellie decided to take a trip From Verboort with her friend Teds Dad and Ted’s sister Kate VanDyke to visit Ted in St. Paul.   Ted came to Verboort often to visit family, and Nellie.    November 17, 1920, they were married in Roy Oregon.  She moved to St Paul, Oregon on Ted's farm. Nellie stated the first years were hard.  No electrical, No washing machine or other luxury items of today.  Nellie would be found in the fields helping Ted and doing chores on the farm. 

 Nellie spent most of her time as a homemaker for their family of 16 children. Wilbert 1921, Martha (Waibel)1923, Edmund 1924, Gerald 1926, Eileen (McMahan) 1927, Leslie 1931, Carl 1932, Ethel (Duyck)1934, Maurice 1937, Joann (Sister Jean Marie) 1939, Joyce 1940, Richard 1942, Norman (Salt)1944, Norbert (Pepper) 1944, Berniece 1945, Doris 1946

They lived in St Paul for 48 years farming multiple crops.  They retired in 1967. Nellie and Ted moved back to Washington County, building a house on Long Road near Cornelius, Oregon.  She still hosted the extended family for many get togethers, as most of the children moved back to Washington County.  Nellie died on April 21, 1983, at the age of 81.
