Obituary

Joan Eva Jensen, 88, a resident of Garibaldi passed away on April 19, 2024 at the Silver Cloud II Adult Foster care Home in Forest Grove.

Joan was born on November 26, 1935 in Pueblo, CO She was the second of three children born to Hans and Ila (Krider) Jensen. She was raised in Pueblo and graduated from Pueblo High School with the Class of 53. She enrolled at Colorado State University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching.

She served her country in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1965 as a 1st Lt.

Joan was a teacher all her life, she started teaching at Gaston High School but taught math at Madison and Jefferson High Schools in Portland. She retired in the early 1990’s.

She met her lifelong companion, Joyce Braukman, at a bowling league in 1959, the Braukmans brought Joan into their family as an honorary sister and was so for the past 65 years. They made their home in Portland until they retired and then split their time between Garabaldi, Oregon (in the summer) and Sun City, AZ (in the winter).

Joan enjoyed painting, reading and playing golf. She was an avid skier both snow and water She enjoyed a good campfire and the outdoors. In her home she was the one to fix things, she enjoyed home improvement projects.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Edwin

She is survived by her companion Joyce Braukman, a sister, Carol Eberhart of Sun City, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.
