With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Deanna Lorraine Vandewettering (Stark), who passed away at her home on May 17, 2017.

Deanna was born on December 15, 1937, in Portland, Oregon. She married the love of her life, Merle S. Vandewettering, on June 10, 1961, and together they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, dedication, and family.

Deanna was a devoted wife and mother. She and Merle raised five children together. With heavy hearts, they also made the difficult decision to place a sixth child for adoption due to Deanna’s illness. In a blessing that brought great comfort, he was reunited with the family prior to her passing and had been raised in a loving home.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Stark; her mother Mabel Behm; and her sister, Sally Duffield. She is survived by her sister, Vicki Harsch.

Deanna is also survived by her children: Brian and Mari Vandewettering; Kelly and Michael Breeden; Russell and Poli Vandewettering; Brett and Lori Vandewettering; Tracey and Jeffery Stephens; and Joseph and Frankee Gassner. She was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 13 great-grandchildren.

Deanna will be remembered for her strength, her deep love for her family, and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished so dearly.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
