William D. Wyl William D. Wyl died of causes related to age Sunday in his Northwest Portland home. He was 85. A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bethany Presbyterian Church. Private interment will be in Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery. He was born Sept. 2, 1904, in Tyler, Texas. After moving to the Portland area in 1932, Mr. Wyl went to work for the U.S. Steel Co. He managed the company's wire division for Oregon, Washington and part of California—for 32 years until his retirement in 1964. Mr. Wyl was a longtime member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Madlyn Nutting Wyl; daughters, Lola Marie Goodell and Nancy Wyles; his son—William G.; all of Portland; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
