We are here today to celebrate the life of Lloyd Robert Hastings. Lloyd

was born in North Powder, Oregon on March 20, 1920. He graduated

from North Powder High School in 1938. Following high school, he did a ,

variety of work often involving heavy equipment operation associated

with farming, logging and construction. In addition, he was the leader

of a rigging crew at the Oregon Shipyards in Portland and also worked

as a welder.

Lloyd joined the U.S. Army in March of 1942. During World War II he

served in Europe with the Fourth Armored Division. Following his

service in Europe, he also participated in the occupation of Japan. He

was discharged in January of 1948 and awarded several medals for his

distinguished service.

 He married Ruth Wismer Johnson on Januar1 2., 1981 in Portland where ,

they made their home. Lloyd and Ruth enjoyed spending time with

family and their many friends. They particul:1rly enjoyed socializing with ,

friends over a game of pinochle. They toured extensively around the

world and also took numerous trips throughout North America in their

van.
