Leo G. Gossman, 66 retired police detective Leo Gregory Gossman, 66, Hillsboro, died March 20, 2003, of complications of diabetes. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, SE Third Ave. Mr. Gossman was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Portland, a son of Leo W. and Jean M. Gossman. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. On June 17, 1961, he married Patricia Z. Ratcliffe in Hillsboro. Mr. Gossman worked for Code-A-Phone, Inc., before becoming a Hillsboro police officer. He later was promoted to detective and worked largely on child abuse cases. He worked 23 years before retiring. He then worked with his long-time friend, Don Hunker, at the Powder Horn Gun Shop. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters—Forest and Kristi Gossman, Hillsboro, and Shelley Forest, Robert; a grandson, Canaron Gossman, Dupont, Wash.; and two grandchildren, Jerzy Krautert and Mackenize Krautert, both of Forest Grove.
