Dorothy V. Philpott, 76, Hillsboro, died Jan. 10, 1993, at Tuality Community Hospital of causes related to a stroke.
Memorial services were held this Tuesday at Bethany Presbyterian Church. Private interment was in Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery.
Mrs. Philpott was born Nov. 14, 1916 in Nyssa, a daughter of John N. and Joe Anna Stephens Wilmers. She was raised and educated in Emmett, Idaho, and graduated from the Multnomah Hospital School of Nursing in 1935.
In 1936 she married Frederick M. "Tom" Hughes and they lived at Mt. Emily Logging Camp until moving to LaGrande in 1943. They moved to Hillsboro in 1952.
Her husband died Feb. 19, 1973.
On June 27, 1974, she married Albert "Walt" Philpott in Boise, Idaho.
Mrs. Philpott was a member of the Mrs. of Elks. She was active in the League of Women Voters and served on the Washington County Election Board for several years.
She was a long-time member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and had served as an elder.
Survivors include her husband, Albert "Walt" Philpott, Hillsboro; two sons, Tom Hughes, Hillsboro, and John Hughes, Kingston, Wash.; three step-daughters, Sharon Johnson, Hillsboro, Kathy Sunsen, Portland, and Sandra Matthews, Royal Oak, Mich.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Bethany Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
Daniolson, Sewell and Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
