Dorothea Evelyn E. Hoffman A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, in Bethany Presbyterian Church for Dorothea Evelyn Edmunds Hoffman, who died Oct. 10 at age 91. Mrs. Hoffman was born Nov. 24, 1906, in Chicago. She taught kindergarten in Chicago public schools for many years before moving to Winter Park, Fla., in 1959. There, she taught kindergarten for a private Episcopal School for about five years before retiring. She moved to Portland in 1982. In 1946, she married Joseph R. Hoffman; he died in 1975. Survivors include her daughters, Carol Ann Carlisle Erlandson of Independence, Mo., and Susan Hoffman Gaston of Portland; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Thomas E. Carlisle, died in 1975. Family interment will be in Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the church's memorial fund or a favorite charity.
