Deborah Leu, 96, memorial Monday WEST UNION— Deborah Wisher Leu died April 9, 1995, at Unity Community Hospital in Hillsboro of private causes. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with interment to follow. Memorial services will be Monday at 7 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Leu was born Feb. 15, 1899, on the family farm in West Union, where she lived most of her life. She was the daughter of Walter and Laura Wisher and graduated from the old Rock Creek Grade School and Hillsboro High School. On Sept. 9, 1925, she married Benjamin Leu at her family home. He preceded her in death. Worked for a number of years in the county recorder's office in Hillsboro. A life-long member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church and was confirmed by the Rev. Otto Hoffman in the original German language of the church. She had served as a deacon and was active in many of the groups and committees. She enjoyed reading and working in the garden. Her hobbies included traveling, picture taking, and oil painting. Survivors: West Union; two daughters, Mrs. Addie Collins and Mrs. Glen (Lauren) Grossen; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ophelia Springer and Ella Adams. Family suggests memorials to the Bethany Presbyterian Church. Thomason Mortuary of Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
