Flat rectangular dark gray granite gravestone flush with the ground, approximately 2-3 feet wide. Inscribed in raised or incised white lettering: 'CARL SCHMIDT' at the top, birth date 'OCT 28 1893' below, death date 'APR 16 1915' at the bottom. No epitaph, symbols, emblems, crosses, flowers, military insignia, or other decorations visible on the stone. The stone surface shows some weathering and patina. Surrounded by uneven green grass with patches of taller weeds and moss encroaching on the edges. Several brown and orange fallen autumn leaves scattered across the stone and surrounding grass. No mementos, flowers, flags, or other items placed nearby. Photographed in natural outdoor lighting, likely fall season.
