Betty Ellis Fish
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday Sept. 24, 1998, in Bethany Presbyterian Church for Betty Ellis Fish, who died of Alzheimer's disease Sept. 21 at age 71.
Mrs. Fish was born July 10, 1927, in Cairo, Ga. She received her bachelor's degree from Eastern Oregon State College, her master's from Monmouth College, and her doctorate from the University of Oregon. She was a special education administrator from the mid-1950s until 1976, when she became assistant state superintendent for Oregon in 1985. She moved to Portland in 1980 and to Wilsonville in 1987. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cairo, Ga. In 1976, she married Lawrence D. Fish.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence D. Fish; daughters, Maxine Plawood of N.J., and Jane Ellis of New York City; son, Tim Ellis of London; daughter Laurie Fish of Montreal; stepsons, Robert Fish of Las Vegas, Michael Fish of Anchorage, Alaska, Gerald Fish of Wilsonville; brothers, David Harvey of Sidney, Ohio, and Jack Harvey of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association or Providence Child Center. Arrangements by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Wilsonville.
