Obituary

Alfred A. Wismer, 94, life-long area resident FOREST GROVE - Alfred Henry "Al" Wismer, 94, Forest Grove, died April 12, 2006, at Marquis Care. Interment will be private. Mr. Wismer was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Bethany, a son of Carl E. and Mathilda Zurcher Wismer. He was raised and graduated from Beaverton High School in 1930, where he was a star athlete in football, track and basketball. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Aug. 20, 1943, he married Lois "Jeanne" Pousson in Beaverton. Mrs. Wismer died May 9, 1985, after more than 50 years of marriage. On June 19, 1989, he married Nez "Marie" Berge in Reno, Nev. They lived in the Reno area until moving to Jennings-McCall Residential Community in August 2005. Forest Grove. Al Wismer worked as a firefighter for the City of Portland for 19 years and later was an environmental specialist for Tektronix. He retired in 1977. He also farmed their acreage. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Mr. Wismer enjoyed watching sports on television, visiting the coast, digging for clams and fishing. He also enjoyed family activities and maintaining his huge yard. Survivors include his wife, Marie Wismer, Forest Grove; a son and daughter-in-law, David E. and Laura Wismer, Couer d'Alene, Idaho; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne M. and David Bowen, La Grande; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Richard and Bernice Wismer, Beaverton; two sisters, Wismer, Tigard. Special Instructions: Interment will be private.
