Obituary
Matthew Stephen Kemper, 92, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on June 30, 2026 at his home. Matthew was born on March 28, 1934 in Hillsboro, OR. He was the fourth of six children born to Stephen and Elizabeth (Hillecke) Kemper. He was raised on the family farm in Verboort and attended Visitation Catholic Grade School and Verboort High School graduating with the Class of 1952. He met his future wife, Dolores “Lori” Geisbers, as the girl next door. Lori’s family owned the garage across Hwy 47 from the farm. They grew up picking crops and attending social functions and started dating through high school. They married on June 12, 1953 in Verboort and made their home in Greenville. They moved to their 80-acre farm in 1955 on Parson’s loop Lori passed away in 2023. Matthew worked almost all his life, he started with his siblings working on the farm, milking cows, picking crops. Always a farmer at heart, Matthew was usually farming while getting employment at other jobs at local saw mills. He started working for Willamette Industries in the late 1960’s and retired following 30 years as a maintenance man. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and clam digging. He was fond of country western music and enjoyed a good family gathering. He was an avid football fan and was a good at working on machines. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lori, a daughter Michelle, a son-in-law, Norman Bishop, four siblings and his parents. He is survived by seven children and their spouses, Keith and Debbie Kemper of Buxton, Craig and Gloria Kemper of LaFayette, Denise Bishop of Hillsboro, Debby Welch of Forest Grove, Kevin Kemper of Forest Grove, Paul Kemper of Forest Grove and John Kemper of Forest Grove, a brother and sister-in-law, George and Julie Kemper of Verboort, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
