Mary Elizabeth Moshinsky
Obituary
Mary Moshinsky passed away peacefully on December 26th, 2025, at 6:00 in the morning. She was at home surrounded by her most prized possession: her family. Although her departure came at an unfortunate time of year, determined and stubborn Mary was able to bring her whole family together for one last Christmas. Mary was able to hold on one more night for her family to have one last Christmas dinner full of food, stories, and love. Throughout her life, Mary had many different roles ranging everywhere from nursing student to bookkeeper, but her most accomplished title was “mom.”
On May 4th, 1963, Mary was wed to Peter Moshinsky in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania. Peter and Mary went on to live over 62 wonderful years together. In April of 1964, Mary gave birth to their first child Cheryl, followed by their son Peter in 1966 and daughter Judith in 1970. Her children will always be grateful for what a loving, funny, and protective mother they had. Peter’s job required frequent moves. In fact, all three children were born in different states, but Mary never complained. As long as her kids were happy, she had a dog to love, and her kitchen was clean, Mary was content. When she had a Bloody Mary in her hand and a wiener dog on her lap, there was not a bigger smile to be seen.
In 1994, Mary was upgraded to ‘Grandma,’ and went on to hold this title for seven grandchildren who all loved her dearly. Their house was never without ice cream for the grandkids, beer for the grown-ups, and chew toys for any furry friends that may be joining them on any given day. Mary was never happier than when she got to see her grandkids, whether it was making them milkshakes, playing board games, filling the house full of laughter, yelling and cheering at football games, or giving them hell for trying to take care of her. During her last few days on earth, all of her kids and grandkids were there to say hello and goodbye every day until she made it to heaven. Mary stayed as stubborn as can be until the very end, making sure no matter what state she was in, everybody knew that all she needed was a smiling husband, a house free of dust and crumbs, and space full of love, laughter, and most importantly, family.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents Harry McPhillips and Mary Maloney, and her brother Thomas McPhillips.
She is survived by her husband Peter Moshinsky Sr, her three children Cheryl Ovaert (husband Tim), Peter Moshinsky Jr (wife Kathy) and Judith Bartoo (husband Dave) and her seven grandchildren Nicole Engle, Katherine Engle, Jennifer Moshinsky, Peter Moshinsky lll, (fiancé Kyla Keller) Thomas Moshinsky, Hunter Bartoo (wife Chloe), and Hannah Bartoo.
Funeral mass will be at 11am with Rosary beginning at 10:30am. Immediately following mass, a lunch celebration will be held at the Visitation Parish Center. Internment immediately following luncheon at Visitation Cemetery.
