Gilleta Y. “Tia” Kouba, 84, a longtime resident of the Gaston community, died Friday morning, April 9, 2021 at her daughter’s home.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 12 Noon at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1660 Elm Street in Forest Grove, with Fr. Ben Tapia, celebrant. Co-Celebrant will be Fr. Dave Gutmann, of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Beaverton. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will precede the Mass at 11:30 A.M. Rite of Christian Burial will follow at the Visitation Cemetery in Verboort.

GILLETA YVONNE KOUBA was born November 11, 1936 in Clovis, California, the daughter of the late Leonard Tinkler and Nona M. (Tanner) Tinkler.

She was united in marriage to Stanley Frank Kouba on November 19, 1994 in Forest Grove, Oregon. They celebrated their 26th Anniversary this past November. Following their marriage, they resided in the community of Gaston.

Tia worked as a Recreation Therapist in the healthcare industry for the State of Alaska, for twenty years. She had worked as a volunteer teacher prior to that in Fairbanks Alaska for the catholic school system.

She was an active member of St. Anthony Parish in Forest Grove and a member of the Sweet Adelines. Among her special interests, Tia enjoyed sewing, especially quilting for loved ones and the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Nona Tinkler and by her siblings Charles Tinkler and Dorothy Dein.

Survivors include her husband, Stan Kouba, of Gaston, Oregon; her children and a spouse, Heather and Sarah Nielson, of Aloha, Oregon and Meredith Ingalls, of Portland, Oregon; also surviving are her 6 grandchildren and her niece.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Alaskan Shepherd, c/o Catholic Diocese of Fairbanks, 1316 Peger Road, Fairbanks, Alaska 99709-5199, in her memory.
