Christine M. Haynes, 77, who was a native and lifelong resident of the Verboort community, died February 17th at the Tuality Community Hospital following an illness of the past several years. Mrs. Haynes was born at Verboort on February 24, 1905, the daughter of William verboort and Nellie VanDyke Verboort. She received her education at the Visitation elementary school and Verboort High School. She was married at Verboort on August 24, 1932 to Clarence Haynes. After their marriage they lived in the Gaston area for nine years before returning to Verboort where they spent the balance of their lifetime. She was a lifelong member of the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort. Her husband preceded her in death her in 1964, and a son, Wayne, died in 1982. Surviving are six children, Mrs. Vincent (Anita) Vandecoevering, Darrell Haynes, Lorraine Anderson, and Mrs. Lyle (Florence) Harlow, all of the Forest Grove and Verboort communities; Melvin Haynes, Tillamook and Mrs. Hines (Darlene) Arandt, Gaston. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Neil (Mary) Jepson, Cornelius, and three brothers, Elmer and Arthur Verboort, both of Verboort, and Wilfred Verboort of Mt. Angel.
