Patricia "Pat" Jean Hammond, a resident of the Verboort community passed away on December 19, 2019 at the Providence St Vincent Medical Center in Portland.
Pat was born on May 26, 1941 in Forest Grove, OR.  She was the second oldest of six children born to Robert and Marian (Ross) VanLoo. She attended Visitation Catholic Grade School and Forest Grove High School graduating with the Class of 1959.
She met her future husband, Richard Hammond, in July while at a dance in Verboort. That Christmas Richard proposed and they married on July 9, 1960 in Verboort. They have seven children; Kevin, Gary, Mark, Laurie, Brenda, Phil and Carmen. They started their family in Hillsboro but within a year they moved to Verboort where they have lived since.
Pat was first and foremost a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her family. She also worked outside the home first in a bakery in Forest Grove then for View Master in Beaverton.  Pat and Richard also were owner/operators of Papa Aldo's Pizza, currently Papa Murphy's, having three stores: Forest Grove, Murray Hill and Hillsboro.  They retired in 2002.
Richard and Pat enjoyed traveling and had visited countries throughout the world including, India, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, UK, Ireland, Scotland, France, Spain and Mexico. She loved her beach home in Barview and spending time with her family there. She was her family's #1 babysitter and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When "things slowed down" Pat enjoyed reading, she was a big volunteer at her church, Visitation Catholic Church where she was a part of the Altar Society. She was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's #1 sports fan and concert attendee having spent countless hours and traveled many miles to watch.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a grandson; Ryan Hammond, a son-in-law, Danny Beierle and a grand daughter-in-law; Ericka Hammond
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard, seven children and their spouses; Kevin and Brenda Hammond of Forest Grove, Gary and Kathy Hammond of Forest Grove, Mark and Neysa Hammond of Orenco, Laurie and Mark Lago of McMinnville, Brenda and Ted Leach of Gaston, Phil and Stephanie Hammond of Forest Grove, Carmen and Russ Furchner of Tualatin, five siblings and their spouses; Diane and Don Block, Sally and Dave Herb, Cathy and Wayne Salvo, Ross and Kirsten VanLoo, Mary and Lou Laferriere, fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family suggest donations in Pat's name go to the Visitation School Building Fund and/or to the Visitation School Endowment fund.
