Far West 1

Flat gray granite gravestone flush with the ground, surrounded by green grass and some weeds. The inscription reads: 'MATTHEW EDWARD BEECHER' at the top. Below the name, there is a carved symbol of a baseball diamond (green outfield with brown infield and white bases). To the right of the baseball symbol, dates are inscribed: 'MAY 28 1952' above 'JANUARY 15 2001'. Next to the dates is a colorful cartoon etching of a yellow/orange reclining lion or panther figure with horns/antlers, lying playfully with a small white ball nearby. At the bottom, the epitaph reads: 'Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't go to yours' - Yogi Berra. The stone has a slightly weathered surface with some dirt and moss in the edges. No flowers, flags, or other decorations are visible.
