Obituary

MARY ELEANOR DAILEY was born January 2, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Louis Boyett and Rebecca Riddle Boyett. She was raised and received her education in Harlingen, Texas, having been a graduate of the Harlingen High School Class of 1955.


She was united in marriage to Marvin Emmet Dailey on September 13, 1956, in Harlingen, Texas. Following their marriage they resided in Harlingen, Texas until May 1957 when they moved to Hillsboro, Oregon.


She worked in retail sales for nearly 50 years at Kiddyville 1971-1977, the Emporium 1977 to 2003 and J.C. Penney’s 2003 to 2017 when she retired.


Among her special interests were flower gardening, feeding the hummingbirds, going to the casino, taking trips to Texas to visit her family, visiting with her neighbors, enjoying A&W root beer floats and going to the movies.


Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, on August 1, 1991, after celebrating over thirty-five years of marriage together; also by her parents, Louis and Rebecca Boyett; her sister, Billie Caryl Andrade and her son, Dale Dailey, on June 11, 2024.


Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Mike McCallen, of Forest Grove, Oregon; her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Denise Dailey, of Cherry Grove, Oregon; her daughter-in-law, Sondra Dailey, of Newberg, Oregon and her two sisters, JoAnn Graves of Rio Hondo, Texas and Patsy Johnson of Gwinn Michigan.


Also surviving are her five grandchildren and their spouses, Rachel Dailey, of Newberg, Oregon; Hannah and Drew Harris, of Newberg, Oregon; Jessica and Derek Crain, of Seattle, Washington; Jake and Kelsey McCallen, of Forest Grove, Oregon and Jamie McCallen and her fiancée, Will Landrum, of Forest Grove, Oregon; her five great-grandchildren, Lennox, Liven and Kendrick Crain; Reign Landrum and Drake Harris and several nieces and nephews.
