Obituary

Angela Lia Berdahl was born on 17 April 1964 to Leon Arnoldi and Yvonne Arnoldi (neé Stafford). She grew up in rural Hillside, Oregon, and attended Forest Grove High School. Angie attended the University of Wyoming, studying English Literature. While at Wyoming, Angie met Barry Scott Berdahl, her future husband. Angie continued on to the University of Arizona, where

she earned a Master’s Degree in 17 th Century English Literature.

After finishing her formal education, Angie taught middle school English in Phoenix, Arizona, for three years. While living in Phoenix, Angie was received and baptized as an adult into the Lutheran Church.

In 1991, Angie and Barry were married. They moved back to Oregon, and took up residence in a semi-habitable 19th century farmhouse in time to welcome their first son, Luke. They would live in that house, on Jackson School Road near North Plains, Oregon, for almost two decades before moving to Forest Grove. During this time, Angie bore and raised her second son, Seth, and her daughter Hannah.

Upon returning to Oregon, Angie became an instructor at Portland Community College teaching literature, and in particular Shakespear. She would remain at PCC until she retired, rising to the rank of Dean. After twelve years of living in Forest Grove, Angie and Barry relocated to Warrenton, Oregon, and took up residence in a considerably more habitable 19 th century farm

house. She spent her last years tending nine acres of gardens, beekeeping, reading, writing, and enjoying her granddaughters and her many dogs.

Angie passed on 16 August 2025, at the age of 61, after more than a half-decade battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Barry Berdahl, her mother, Yvonne Arnoldi, her sons Luke and Seth, her daughter Hannah, her daughter-in-law Khanh Linh, her granddaughters Anne Marie and Helen Joan, her sister Deborah Miller, her brothers-in law Don Berdahl, Ron Berdahl,

Neil Strachan, and Roger Miller, her sisters-in-law Louis Berdahl and Bonnie Kipper, many nieces and nephews, and by Max, Charlie, Pippa and Findley – her dogs.
