Susan Dawn Vandehey (Erickson)
Our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Susan Dawn Vandehey Erickson passed away on January 15, 2021, unexpectedly while traveling in Florida. She was born in Hillsboro, Oregon, on March 27, 1956, to Elmer and Vivien Vandehey. Susan grew up on the family’s farm in Gaston while attending St. Anthony’s School, graduating from Forest Grove High School, and attending Southern Oregon College. She subsequently received her associate’s degree from Columbia College and her bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland in Business Administration. Susan pursued a career in various Federal agencies for over 25 years and retired as a contracting officer from the U.S Department of Homeland Security in 2014.
Susan cherished her children, grandchildren, family and friends while living a very active life in Maryland. She and Roger enjoyed boating and traveling in their RV. Upon retirement, they toured the U.S. in their RV to visit her family back in Oregon and friends throughout the country. She and Roger also spent the winter months in Florida each year.
Susan is survived by her fiancé Roger Demers; her son Joshua Brumley; her daughter Alysia (Kenny) Lombard; her stepdaughters Patricia Scheirer and Mary Erickson; and six grandchildren.
